Registry Setting for Win Explorer Default Start Folder

Ed Brunet

When I right-click on the "Start" button and
click "Explorer" it opens with to the following default
folder selected: "C:\Documents and
Settings\brunetl.JCI\Start Menu"

Can anyone tell me how to change this so that the default
folder is simply: "C:\"

Thanks
Ed

Explorer.exe is the program used for the desktop. With all instances of
Explorer closed, look in Task Manager and you'll still see an instance of
explorer.exe running. That's because that is your desktop. When you
right-click on the Start button in the taskbar and select Explore, you are
doing the same thing as right-clicking on a folder in Explorer and selecting
Explore. You are asking to explore from that folder.

Instead put a shortcut in your QuickLaunch toolbar in the taskbar or in your
Start folder (so it appears at the top of the Start menu) to run:

explorer.exe /e
