Howdy all!
I've been trying to install a driver for a video card (ATI technologies
product) that I'm having problems with and have traced the problem to a
permissions issue. It's not the driver itself, but when I try to edit the
registry I get a "Cannot open ATI Technologies: Error while opening key"
error message. When I right-click on the ATI folder and go to permissions
(which is what I'm trying to play with) I get the following error message:
"You do not have permissions to view the current permission settings for ATI
Technologies, but you can make permission changes."
which is weird, but wouldn't be a real problem if I actually COULD make
changes! I try adding a user to full permissions and I get denied on
permission problems.
I've adjusted the permissions on the software folder to allow all users all
access to these registry keys, but to no avail on the ATI technologies
folder. Other folders allow access, but this one is the only giving me
problems, and I REALLY want to use this other monitor that I've got hooked
into this bad boy video card.
Summary: single folder permission problems in the registry when logged in as
Admin (in normal or safe mode). Please HELP!!
Sincerely,
chris
