Registry editing

I am the Administrator on a Win XP system. When I try to
edit the registry I get the message: "Registry editing has
been disabled by your administrator". I don't understand?

This behavior generally has signs of worm/virii, especially if Msconfig and
Task Manager are behaving the same. Good luck!
