Registry changes not taking effect

Hi,

I'll try to keep this brief but...

1. My server developed a blue screen stop
error "inaccessible boot device". I remedied the problem
using the fixmbr from recovery console.
2. Then when I tried to logon as administrator it just
kept kicking me back to the logon screen. I followed the
fix procedure in KB article 249321
3. Once I was able to login again the drive letters were
all rearranged. Once again I followed a KB article
(223188) and I changed the drive letters to the correct
designations.

This worked for the first time after I restarted my
server. The next time I restarted the server, C: was no
longer present but G: was. G: being my drive that I am
trying to get to stay as the C: drive.

When I try to repeat the registry changes in KB article
223188 they don't take effect so when I reboot my C: drive
appears as G:. I have tried to make the registry changes
in safe mode. I ave also tried using a remote machine to
connect to the server registry and make the changes. They
just aren't being applied.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can FORCE the changes
to stick of if there is some other mode of getting my
server back to normal?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Sounds like the registry is not being written to the hard drive on shutdown.
Are you using regedit to change information in the Mounted Devices key?
And are you receiving any errors on shutdown?
Are you receiving any errors about your pagefile on startup?

If this is not it, have you checked the permissions on the Mounted Devices Key?
