I am using WINxp SP1 [SP2 would disable a lot of programs I still
use.]

The registry has a lot of entries for programs that have either be
uninstalled or have been disabled forever.
I need to know if there is a program that does a GOOD job of cleaning
up the registry of entries that are not ever used?

I could go through the registry key by key but I believe that might
take years considering the stuff I have installed and uninstalled in
the past 2 years.

So is there such a program to do this?
thanks,

Yes. Click Start > Run, and type in "Regedit.exe."

The only safe one, for the average user, is Regedit.

I agree with Bruce Chambers that registry cleaning is something that
needs to be done with extreme caution as it can be very risky.

However if you are prepared to accept the risks, and have your
recovery options prepared, then I have had good results with Regseeker
(free) from http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm

Good luck
