Registration Failed when attempting to publish calendar

I have just installed Outlook 2007 and am attempting to publish my calendar
using my live account. I am receiving the message: "An error has occurred.
Your registration information was not successfully submitted to Office
Online. Please try again later." I have tried multiple times to no avail.
I registered using the same account (my hotmail address).

go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/myoo/FX101170081033.aspx and click
the link on the upper right to log into 'my office online' - if you get a
service unavailable error, click the link to go to the home page then click
the My office online link again. Now click the my calendar link on the
left - what do you get?

I have the same problem. It has occurred for the first time yesterday when I,
after reinstalling Windows+Office, wanted to republish my calendar. The
registration from within Outlook is failing. I can log in via a browser and
see my calendar on Office Online (that hasn't been updated in two days now),
no problems there.

I am having the same problem with first time registration. I can also log in
via browser but no calendar. Any idea's.

I also have the same problem, I tried many times today but no luck...and I
need it for my work. If anybody has a solution?

And what I forgot to mention earlier is that i can also not access the
"calender management" option in "my office online". My computer tells me to
change the calender account but the account dissappeared from my "published
calenders" list.

Good News! My problem seems to have self-resolved...I got beyond the error
message and have liftoff. Must have been a bug on MSft's side...suggest you
all try again. Good Luck!

Well, I got further. Managed to publish the calendar. But now when I try to
send the E-Mail message to invite people to my calendar I get:

"Error while preparing to send sharing message. Server returned an error."

I love these descriptive messages. Still seems like an issue with the
microsoft server.

There is a problem with the publishing service and it should be resolved
within a few days.

For publishing calendars remember these points:

1. Make sure the calendar does not already exist. Go to calendars.office.microsoft.com and log in with your live/hotmail/msn id. If you're at the "Home" page of Office Online, scroll to the very bottom, click My Office Online and the left panel will have Outlook Calendar Sharing Service under the "Services" category. You can delete and old calendars here. (I suggest you do so if you're reinstalling outlook and making a new profile.)

2. You cannot post more than 90days using the default outlook calendar. I usually just create a new calendar using File > New > Calendar when in the Calendar tab. I then switch the current view on the OLD calendar to "All Appointments", select all, switch to the newly created calendar (make sure it's also in "All Appointments" view) and paste it. You now replicated the events and appointments to the new calendar. Right click on the new calendar and you can now share the entire thing. Set the permissions and updates to your liking.

3. "Error while preparing to send sharing message. Server returned an error." happens when you try to invite someone with an id that has already been invited. This should NOT happen if you're starting from scratch. However, just to be sure do this in Outlook:

a. Switch to calendar view and right click on the published calendar.
b. Point to "Publish To Internet" then select "Change Sharing Permissions"
c. This will display a list of users granted access to it. If the person is on there, you can remove them by highlighting the ID and hitting "Remove."
d. Resend the invite and the problem should be solved.

Hope that helped.

It's 1/26. I'm still having trouble. Do you know if the problem has been
resolved ?

It's working for me now, so apparently it was fixed.

Make sure you are logged in using the correct passport/live id before you
try to publish.

Working on this end

Calendar subscriptions and updates have been working for me as well the past week. I've just finished doing a few remote assistance sessions on this issue for clients as well and theirs is also working.

I received the same descriptive error message. Did you ever figure out how
to resolve it? Thanks.

Steve,

Which message did you receive exactly? If it's "Error while preparing to send sharing message. Server returned an error," follow the steps in my earlier post. If you're still having problems feel free to pm me.

D

Diane Poremsky [MVP]

it usually just goes away on its own. You can try logging out of the
passport/live services and if you save the password for autologins, delete
it - saving the password sometimes causes issues.
