Reformatting hard drive

I have recently purchased a second hand computer running
Windows xp, and would like to reformat the hard drive,
but don't know how to. Can anyone help please?

if youre going to reformat the harddrive, youre going to
have to reinstall an OS. just use the formatting utility
that is in the installer to format the harddrive.

First, why do you need to reformat the drive? Second, mykel is right, if
you want to reformat the drive just clean install windows XP. After the
computer reboots (during the install) a blue screen will appear. It will
ask you to select which drive you want to install Windows on. If you select
the drive with the old version of windows it will prompt you if you want
write over the old system or reformat.
