Redundant user profiles (I think?)

Rob P.

We use Windows XP Home Edition on the computer that my
wife and I share at home. We are the only ones who use
this machine. I have noticed that under C:\Documents and
Settings, there are files (profiles?) for a number of
users of the computer including my wife and I (by name).
However, there are also such files
for "Administrator", "Default User", and "Owner" as well
as "All Users". It seems that these folders all contain
certain redundant files, all of which take of valuable
space on the hard drive. Since my wife is the "Owner" and
I am the "Administrator", can some of these folders (i.e.
users) be deleted and/or consolidated? If so, which ones,
and how should I do it to avoid problems?
Thanks.

Administrator is the built-in admin account for the machine, you need it
as at least a backup admin user in case your other accounts get munged.
Default User contains data used for creating new accounts, you need that
in case you have to re-create or add a user. All Users contains data
that is common between all user accounts, you need that for obvious
reasons. Not sure what Owner folder is or if you're even refering to a
folder with that one.

"Valuable" disk space is not nearly as relevant as in older times, now
that 1 Gig of disk space costs roughly a dollar. These folders don't
really use all that much disk space anyway, less than 200 MB.

That will be on a machine where the system was installed by the maker,
as an 'initial' user account
