Outlook may have lost is status as your default mail. Click the Start menu,
All Programs, and open the "Set Program Access and Defaults" to the mail app
you want.

i think you are correct
I noticed even my send a link to is not working

I opened the Set Program Access and Defaults as you suggested
The scroll box says "Use my current Microsoft e-mail program" "Outlook
Express" 7
Below says Enable access: Outlook Express

It's likely that the "mailto: " protocol is messed up:

In My Computer,Tools menu, Folder Options. File Types tab. In list of file
types, click (URL:Mailto Protocol) Click Advanced. In Actions, click Open.
Edit
In "Application used to perform action" enter the program to use to open
files that have this extension, then click OK. (In MY case it is:-including
quotes- "C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /mailurl:%1)
Put a check in "Use DDE"
In "Application" put 'msimn" and in "Topic" put "System"

I change the URL:MAILTO PROTOCL as you suggested
It was set to Outlook Express

I changed it to Outlook 2007
I rebooted and nothing happened

I went back to double check and the File type is set to Outlook 2007 now

I want back into Set Program Access and Defaults but I cannot see Outlook
2007 in there. It is still set as follow
Enable Access: Outlook Express.
On top the scroll box still says "Use my current Microsoft e-mail program"
"Outlook
Express"

If you mean the Outlook 2007 from the 2007 Office Suite, you should be able
to run Office setup again to install that Outlook as default email.
