Reduce File size

Hi,

We have 1 file which previously have alot of sheet into it & file size is
very big, now we delete all sheets except keep 1 sheet with a simple table &
small text box, total about 105 rows.
Now the file size still very big of about 7,200KB.

When I try to select row 1 to 105 & delete all data & sheet look totally no
data, saved BUT still back to about same size.

I even try step of point at row 106, press Ctrl+Shirt+down arrow key, then
delete entire row, also go to last column Ctrl+Shirt+righ arrow key & delete
entire column. After saved still same file size.

Even I highlighted WHOLE sheet & copy to new file new sheet & saved, still
same size.

BUT if I just copy row 1 to 105 to new file then size reduce to about 800MB.

Please someone give guidance about what is happen & how can I find out what
cause it & reduce the file size.

Thanks alot,
Jeremy

Timbo is right. There could be artifacts left over from previous formatting.
Cell shading (patterns) is a big culprit. Many times, people will shade
entire columns or rows and this causes Excel to include those cells in the
used area. Other types of formatting could leave some sort of artifact thus
causing Excel to include those cells in the used area.

A quick way to solve this issue is to copy just the table area you need to a
new workbook and save it and your file size is now the right size.

Good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for your advice.
But my problem is I have only 1 sheet, and even I do deletion of all columns
& row by selecting whoel sheet (cell betwenn column A & row 1) or format all
cells color to "No fill". still same fiel size.
The whole sheet look totall empty after delete all columns & rows.
Of course I can simply copy the range I wanted to new sheet then size will
reduce BUT copy whole sheet will get big size. I want to understand what
cause it.
It should be columns or row after the range of first 105 rows that cause
issue but I see all cells is empty totally after row 105 & column N.
Is there anyway I can email you my file for your checking?

Regards / Jeremy
