reduce database size when insert picture in database

I am new to access and hope anybody can help me out.

I am doing a database for a school and need to include picture of the
student in the db. +- about 1700 student with each image file between 50 -
70kb size. What is the best way in include these picture in the database
without increasing the size of the database so much? fyi i have tried use ole
linking but when i reach +- 1300 student the db size already reaching 2GB and
i start to have problem.

appreciate if you can xplain to me in simple english bcos i am not a IT
person & not very familiar with computer/programmnig term.Just helping a
friend :).

hi,
It is not a good idea to put images in access. it is
better to put the file path to the image in the db and
include the images in the same directory as the access db
or perhaps a special image directory in the same tree as
the access db. this will not cause the db to grow in size.
I have heard that for each 100k image you add to access
causes a 1mb increase in db size. i do not know what
casues this.
but some mvp's claim to have solved that problem.
