redirect in frontpage

The search engines see www.mydomain.com and .domain.com as two seperate pages
and punish ranking for duplicate content. I want to redirect all requests for
..mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com. When I modify the .htaccess file through
the server file manager I get an error in frontpage which will not allow
frontpage to access the remote site. My hosting service says I must modify
..htaccess through frontpage . How do I do that?

This might help.
