Red X in Index

Hi,
I posted a question here a few days ago, and got an answer, but now I can't
find it.
I find this website kind of confusing.
Anyway, I'll try again. I'm running XP Home SP2 in dual boot mode with
ME. XP was installed on a new blank hard disk; ME is on the old hard disk.
When I click on Index in Help & Support in XP, all I get is a small red X
in a black box, no list. XP has been installed for only a couple of months,
and I have not moved many programmes from ME. I have been uninstalling them
one by one, to see if one was at fault, but no luck. I have run a virus scan
a couple of times (AVG free) with no result.
I would appreciate any help.

I'm not sure what you mean by "fully patch" I have installed all of the MS
updates except SP3.

Hi nass,
1st suggestion: I got as far as the 2nd line in the command prompt, then
got a message saying " The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is
incorrect. 2nd suggestion: After installing, got a message saying 'Windows
cannot find 'helpctr.exe' I restored after both tries, so I'm back where I
started. Maybe I should go back to the very first restore point--would a
point be installed when XP is installed?

Open run and type in :
sfc /scannow click [OK] and get your XP CD handy you may need to insert it
in.

If that didn't help try to run windows updates and install all security
updates.

Installing SP3 solved the problem. Thanks very much for your help.
