Recycling Bin

I hope someone can help with this as it is starting to
get annoying.

My recycling bin is showing that it has a file in it but
when I try to empty the recycling bin I get the following
error message : Cannot remove folder Dc8: The directory
is not empty.

When I double clich the recycling bin to try to restore
the file there is nothing in there. So my question is
this. How do I get rid of the file? Its not causing any
problem it just bothers me that I cant get rid of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Devilman;
Try deleting something else. Create a new folder and delete it. Then open the Recycle
Bin.
See what this does. If it does not help. Check the Bin after you reboot.

Have you tried doing a search for the file? Do that and
see what you get. You might also try starting in Safe mode
and deleting the file.

I have tried both of these ways to get rid of it but no
luck. Does anyone else have any other ideas?

DevilMan;
If it makes you feel any better, you are not alone. I just developed this problem.
:blush:( I have tried all of Kelly's tricks and still have not fixed it. The file is Dc1.oldi
and is a whopping 0 bytes. I think my problem stemmed from another problem I was having,
trying to delete the %SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem\Repository folder. I had a WMI problem,
which is now fixed. Fix one problem and another shows up like a bad penny.
One thing I can say is that you learn by experience. With the problems I have, I'm
gonna be an expert one of these days. ;o)

DebiUK;
From Kelly T., "A hidden folder is creating on each volume that has the recycle bin
enabled named Recycled. Any deleted files are moved to this folder and renamed to:
C<original drive letter><number file deleted>.<original extension> and the original full
name and path stored in a mapping file Info2. For example the file name:
C:\www.dbknox_faq.com\index.html would become Dc1.html (if it was the first file deleted
on the partition)."
Dc8 is the #8 Deleted file on C:

This worked for me. Run Error Checking (Chkdsk). Then try to delete Dc8.
