Recycle Bin - Hidden Undeleted Files

When I run any file shredder on my Recycle bin (for example, i just ran the
one in AShampoo's WinOptimizer for Vista), they show that they can delete
some of the files, but the rest are being used by the system. The icon is
empty and when i open the Recycle Bin, the file explorer shows no files.
Strange...

Specific error reads (for example):

"116 files successfully wiped.
1092 files not wiped because they were in use by the system or other
applications."

It is always 1092 files. I even booted in Safe mode and ran the tool and
got the same situation.

Has anyone seen this before? It is my home PC, but I am just curious why
the recycle bin is holding onto things... and how to figure out what they are.

Thanks,
Scott

Hello,

Do you have other HDDs on your system, and are their respective wastebaskets
empty?

Excellent question, I suppose.

I have 3 other HDD. How do I find them though? They obviously are hidden.

When I right-click on the recycle bin and choose properties, I
see all of my FAT and NTFS partitions in one list (and they are
spread over two disks.)

Same thing here... I see 4 recycle bins on 4 HDDs. But, that would lead me
to think that when I empty the bin on my desktop, that it empties all of my
recycle bins.

But, I still have the mysterious 1092 files that are undeletable.
