Recurring Trojans

john

Windows 2000 OS SP4
MS Antispyware and Norton Internet Security 2005
All updated to today 12th August 2005
Getting random search apges and changes to page defaults
in IE - seems to use About:Blank as trigger
MSAS detects following and supposedly removes but they
reappear on restart of computer.

Trojan.Startup.NameShifter.CE (3 signatures)
Trojan.BHO.NameShifter.DV (5 signatures)
Adware.SearchPage (5 signatures)

last item only appeared after update of MSAS
On reboot first two items were again foun in scvan but
third item did not reappear.

Nortoon AV Scan is not picking up anything at all and
they say their policy does not cover adware or spyware
for such items yet their sales advertising seems to claim
otherwise

default page of IE (About: Blank) continues to appear on
startup with various search topics cycling from business
pop-ups to pornographics.

weakness seems to revolve aroung inability to control IE
page defaults.

Have tried setting all these to safe restore options but
even these are being overridden on startup

Help please?
