Recurring items in calendar do not archive when I MANUALLY archive

Hello folks,
I was reading about the aging standards for Auto-Archiving and it does mention that recurring calendar items do not get archived.
I have noticed that manual archival doesn't get them out of my current calendar either.
Using Windows XP Pro with Outlook 2003 and obviously Exchange Server as well.
Is this an issue or is this a feature?
I initially thought that it would archive recurring items that were within the time frame for my archive ie: 3 months. I figured that it would only leave those that had continuing recurrences outside of the archival dates but it doesn't get any recurring items.

If any of the occurrences of a recurring item are still within the 3 month
period, the item will not archive. Once all the occurrences are at least 3
months in the past, the recurring item should archive. Also, the modified
date will be used as the criteria for whether the item is 3 months old or
not.
