recovery

My wife has accidently emptied my recycle bin and lost
some important excel spreadsheets. They were originally
saved in my documents which XP "systems recovery" does
not embrace. Is there any way that they can be retrieved
from my hard drive. Any help would be much appreciated.

Until you get the answer, DO NOT do anything that causes writing to your
hard drive. In fact, use another computer.
