Recovery question

Rob

I have a windows 2000 server, for the operating system it
uses adaptec raid with 2 HDDs(C: drive) and for D: it uses
3 HDDs raid5(Adaptec). one of the HDDs in Raid5(D: drive)
was failed I just replaced it and rebuilt the raid with no
problem (in Adaptec Utility) but when I went to Operating
system (W2k) and checked the disk management, the volume
belong to D: drive still has problem.
In the left hand it says: Disk1, Dynamic, 68GB OFFline and
the right side it says Failed. When i tried to reactivate
disk it said Internal error- disk private region contents
are invalid, and when I right click on valume area I have
only one option to Delete the Volume.
Does anyone know how I can recover it.
Thanks in advance-Rob

Dear Rob,

Thank you for your posting.

According to your post, you encounter the "disk private region contents are
invalid" error when trying to activate volume.

If I have misunderstood your concern please don't hesitate to let me know.

1. This behavior can occur if the HD is detected offline. All dynamic disks
contain at least one partition table entry with a type 0x42 System-ID.
Basic disks that contained primary partitions, or logical drives in an
extended partition prior to upgrading to dynamic disks may contain several
type 0x42 partition table entries. All volumes on dynamic disks are defined
in a private region LDM database at the end of the physical disk. This
means that any partition tables that exist are simply placeholders, and may
not represent volumes that are currently on the physical disk.

Please refer to the troubleshooting steps described in the following
article:

Error

2. In order to recover lost or damaged volumes that are contained on a
dynamic disk, you must use Dmdiag.exe to extract volume layout information
from the LDM database. You cannot rely on partition table entries to be an
accurate representation of volumes that are contained on dynamic disks.

For additional information about the Dmdiag.exe utility, please check the
