Recovery Console for preinstalled XP system

WIN XP Home Edition is pre-installed on my machine and I only have the
restore CD. I have then updated the OS to XP SP2. When I try to install the
recovery console by using the run command line for
C:\windows\I386\WINNT32.exe /cmdcons, I got the following error message
"Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is
newer than the version on the CD" . The "continue" button is grey out. Any
idea how can I install the recovery console under this situation ?

You cant, after SP2 is installed the recovery console will not install,as a
boot
option, since you dont have a retail version of xp which would let you boot to
xp cd,recovery,uninstall SP2.

I believe that you can slipstream SP2 onto the the install in the I386
directory. You should then be able to install the recovery console.
You may have to download the full SP2 or order the CD.
