I'm not sure what you mean by "revovery cd."

If you are referring to XP installation CDs and you are interested only
in running the Recovery Console, then you may. Otherwise, the answer is
no.

Only if you're planning on erasing everything from the hard drive and
replacing WinXP Pro with WinXP Home.
