Recovering deleted software

I've stupidly removed MS Office 2000 and Premium from the remove software
program in the control panel. I've now lost all Word, Excel etc files and
there's nothing in the recycle bin. Is there any way I can recover these at
all - either myself or by getting technical help?

thanks

Do a drive search...Uninstalling the software would not have deleted your
data

After locating the files, review your backup philosophy.
Having important files on your PC without a regular backup
(weekly?) is extremely shortsighted.

wouldn't hurt to
utilize the system
restore feature and
restore the pc to a
time prior to the
add/remove program
occurrence.

If you don't have an office cd AND office was preinstalled on your computer
when you purchased it,it might be in a partition setup by the mfg. on a older
HP computer that I owned their was a way to reinstall these programs. If I
remember correctly.
All programs>HP tools>system recovery>install programs that came with your
computer>then a drop down list of these programs>

Your system may have such a feature as well LOOK around. If no luck with this
if you install the free word and excel viewers from Microsoft you will at
least be able to read and print the files already on your system.
Good luck.

Wouldn't hurt, but it surely wouldn't help.

Whether you have disks or not has nothing to do with its being XP.

Are you saying that Office came preinstalled on your computer and you
don't have the installation disks for them? If so, that's the
particular computer package you bought that came that way, and has
nothing to do with Windows XP.

Contact your vendor, and see if he can supply disks or has an
alternative recovery method for you. If he will supply disks he will
probably charge you, but my guess is that he won't do anything and
you're out of luck, short of buying it all over again.

Personally, I would never choose to buy a computer that came with any
kind of preinstalled software (Windows, Office, or anything else)
unless I got installation disks with it.

Thanks for all the help, problem now sorted. MAP and db were both right with
their advice and uncle grumpy lives up to his name. The system restore
worked, presumably as the software was preinstalled.
