recovering a deleted mail before it was sent

One of my users running Outlook 2002 POP composed a long email and
accidentally deleted it before sending it. She closed the prog down and it
was therefore deleted from the 'deleted items' folder. It's not in drafts
either. Any way to get it back?

I don't understand this bit .

Open the *.pst file in a hexadecimal editor. (I'm using UltraEdit for this)
......... I open in UE but then what to do pls...?

In the column on the right side overwrite character 7 to 13 with spaces. In
the hexadecimal column (left column) block 7 to 13 will display 20
(hexadecimal value for a space)
ditto..

Why do people do that?? Hit save..just one time..I work in an IT department
and they are always yelling at us because they lost e-mail, docs, etc. and
they never saved it..there is only so much an IT person can do..not grant
miracles.

When you open the file in UE you'll see a whole lot characters that don't
really make any sense. On the left side you see blocks of 2 characters which
is the hexadecimal value of the characters you see on the right side. Just
overwrite the 7th to 13th character in the right column with spaces and save
the file.

This is still a mystery for me. When I open the file in UE, I see the
characters which you describe, but I cannot overwrite the characters on the
right-hand side. If I moved the cursor to the right-hand side and
highlight, it also highlights the hexadecimal characters on the lefthand
side . Moreover, I cannot edit this file at all. I have checked the
properties of the file and it is not read only. Do I need to enable a
certain mode in Ultra edit?
