Recovered PST - All received emails display "this message has not

Flapshot

A user has had a machine rebuild (Win XP \ SP 2) and has recovered a PST file
from a remote backup source. We use Exchange 2007 and the PST is simply
archived emails. Some email dating from only last week are in the "inbox" of
the PST and all show the flag "this message has not been sent"

Does anyone have any ideas - a scanpst has been done, as has a /resetfolders.

The client is Outlook 2007.

Many thanks in advance.

If you are on Exchange then all the emails, received and sent, should be
seen when the User is re-connected to the Exchange server. Why would you
think otherwise?

Hi Gordon,

The issue isn't with the exchange mailbox, the issue is with the PST
(archive folder). All mails below the PST are displaying that warning ("this
message has not been sent"). There is no issue with the exchange mailbox.

Thanks :)

How did you recover this remote file, was it a question of copying the
remote file to a location on the workstation, then opening it within
Outlook?
Was he actually archiving direct to the remote location?
MS doesnt support the use of a pst over a network as it can lead to
corruption

Hi DL,
The PST is stored on the local drive, but a daily backup process runs and
backups up files to a remote location. The PST was wiped during the OS
rebuild, and subsequently recovered from the remote backup location. So to
confirm, the PST has been recovered and is stored on the local drive once
again.

Thanks for your input.

Anyone have any ideas on this? We have seen the same issue. Wiped a drive,
reinstall XP, loaded Office 2003, restored multiple pst files to the machine
and now when you open any message that contains an attachment, the message
opens as if it is a draft and has not been sent. It shows the senders name in
the "from" box as if I am going to send the message on behalf of the user who
sent it to me. Tried reloading Office, Scanpst, etc. Seems to be corruption
in the pst since new emails are fine.
