Recover deleted Draft message?

C

Cherryblossoms

Help! I've accidentally deleted an important message I was working on
in my Draft folder. It is not showing up in the Deleted Items
folder. Is there
any way I can recover it?

I'm using Outlook 2003 (not on an exchange server).

You can try this (remember to make a backup of PST first!):

or try some 3rd party tools that you can find on the Internet.

If they were in your Drafts folder, they go to the Deleted Items folder,
just like all the other Outlook items.

Not true. They don't go into your deleted items. THey disappear. This is a bug to say the least. Open a draft and hit the delete button to edit and it's gone.

Or search the deleted items folder better as they may be in the middle of
the list of deleted items.

ANY item you delete in Outlook ALWAYS goes to the Deleted Items folder of the
data store the item was in unless you have reconfigured Outlook to behave
otherwise. If you see something else, then either you are doing something to
cause the behavior or you are misinterpreting what you see or you have
configured a view that prevents you from seeing Outlook's true behavior.

You can also try another very powerful deleted email recovery tool. The
software provide safe recovery of emails by storing the recovered emails on a
new user-specified location which then could be save in .pst, .eml or .msg
file format.

If you're reading this, before you panick, be aware that the date associated with your deleted draft email is the date the draft was CREATED, not the date it was DELETED. So if you have your deleted emails sorted by date, the draft you seek may not be at the top of your list.
