Recording Music from computer DVD

Guest

I just purchased a new dell computer with a dvd-rom and a dvd rw drive. When
I try to record music from either of the dvd drives, I am unable to transfer
data. I use the volume control properties button to indicate that the dvd
should record but I do not get data transferred. I am trying to record it to
a music track on a Sony video Movie Studio program. My old computer did this
just fine. When I choose the record option under the volume properties menu
I do not have the option of the dvd listed...just the microphone, in line
functions are listed.
