Recording a meeting to a laptop

Hi,

We want to start recording our sales meetings. We can buy a microphone from
Radio Shack to plug into our XP laptop but are wondering what the best method
is for saving these to an MP3 file or something similar. Is there software
built into XP Pro that will do this or do we have to purchase something?

Might be a little bit of overkill for what you are doing but Audacity,
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ , is a nice free audio recorder and editor.

here's a thought ..I use the voice recording feature on my digital camera :>
(it exports as MP3)
