Recording a Macro

Is it possible to record a macro that involves using the TOOLS pulldown menu
in which I have an add-in and want to use?
I've tried recording but that part of the operation just does not get
recorder.

No, the recorder only works with Excel's built-in functionality.

Macro recording won't be possible, you need to find out if the add-in has
what is called an API reference. In there you will find the information you
need to include the add-in functionality in a set of instructions.
