Record selector acting oddly

I know there is probable an easy explanation to this, but it is driving me
crazy and I can't figure out why its doing this. When I open a table and
select a record all the records between where the record selector currently
is located and the one I just selected, get highlighted. As if I had the
"Shift" key pressed while I did it. But I didn't, I just used my mouse to
select the record. It also does the same thing if I use my up and down arrow
key; it highlights the records above or below where the record selector is
and where I am scrolling up or down. I first noticed this in a sub form I
have. When the main form opens, the first record in the subform has the
record selector on it and if I try to select the second record in the
subform, it automatically selects both the first and the second records, as
if I am holding down the shift key on my keyboard, which I am not. Any ideas
out there as to what is going on here, or am I in the Twilight Zone...

Thanks,
Al

In the Status Bar (bottom of the Access window), do you see the text:
EXT

If so, try pressing Esc, or restart Access.

(Extended selection is usually activated by pressing F8.)

Thanks Allen, that was it! I do think its odd that they would activate that
feature with the same function key as the one for stepping through VB code.

Thanks again,

There are only so many function keys available.

You can only step through code while you're in the VB editor. You cannot
select rows from tables when you're in the VB editor. In other words,
there's no chance of misinterpretation of which action is expected of the
function key.
