Record direct to SVCD mpeg ?

Is there any software out there which will allow me to record direct to
.mpeg 480X576 25fps and 224 audio quality, from my TV Card (Pinnacle). Nero
will convert my mpeg file to SVCD.

When i look in the options for my TV Card, it will only record to 96X72icon,
192X144QCIF, 320X240, 352X288, 384X288CIF, 768X576FULL. There is no option
in there for it to record to 480X576 (which is what i think it needs to be
for SVCD, i don't really want to have to further convert it to this value).

So, is there any software which will use my Pinnacle card and record (with
sound) direct to the SVCD resolution so that i can then burn it with Nero to
get SVCD ?

Cheers
Andy

I honestly have little or no experience messing with DVD/SVCD, however
this site would be a good start: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/

FYI converting mpg to divxmpeg fast motion or divx5.05 and converting
the sound to mp3, saves about 40% of the original mpg file size,
depending on the bit-rate you choose. 910 is standard for VirtualDub
but I use 1000.

Hello Andy,

I have a little yellow post-it note with the following formats written on it:

PAL VCD: 352x288@25Hz at 1150Kbps with 44.1KHz Stereo at 224Kbps
PAL SVCD: 480x576@25Hz ------------ " -------------

Don't know how accurate it is, but it may be of help. Do a google on a program
called ExoTV. I used it a while back with my TV capture card to record direct
to VCD format. Not sure if it does direct SVCD recording but worth a check.
