Recommendations for AGP video card

Steve

Simple question, I am looking to replace an older video card with a better
more up to date model. main requirement is AGP compatible, 256mb onboard
RAM. I wont be playing games, but will be using the card for video editing
and playing video from the hard drive. Can anyone recommend a decent card
for around 40 pounds or less that will fit the job? And where is the best
place to buy from online in the UK?

Thanks a lot.

It might help if you told us what card you currently have. Video editing
isn't overly demanding on the video card, large amounts of system RAM and
processing power are more important. There's a number of cards in the price
range you want that would suffice. Avoid 64bit memory ones. There's number
of 128bit 6200 AGP series cards with 256Mb of RAM in the price range you
want.

Video (and still photography) are not demanding applications. Any card
that is otherwise satisfactory and meets your other requirements will do.

What is the "older video card" you're currently using? nVidia FX 5500
cards would fit your performance and price point needs. FX 5200 cards
would also work. 256mb models of both are available but harder to find
in the 5200. Both are also available in fanless versions.

Can't help with sourcing in the U.K.

The card I currently have is onboard graphics on a 2 year old mainboard....

I have been looking at a XFX GeForce 6200 DDR2, would this do the trick?
The card is AGP 8x / 256MB DDR2.

Comments anyone?

For what you want that's plenty.
