recognizing my old master drive as a slave in my new computer

I decommissioned my old computer but i want to use my old hard drive as a
secondary drive in my new machine. The old drive had XP Pro on it but now I
want access to my old files and pictures. Though it worked fine in the old
machine I can't get the new machine to recognize this drive though I hook it
up correctly. I even put it in an hard drive casing and used a usb hookup but
still the new machine will not recognize it. I have done this in the past
with a hard drive that was my master and had Window 98 on it and am still
using that drive for file storage. How do I get past the security to see my
files?

Does the Bios recognize it? You may have to hook it up using Cable
Select instead of Master-Slave. Rt click MyComputer>select Manage>Disk
Management. If it shows up there see if you can assign it a drive letter.
Did you have
it setup in your old computer as a Dynamic Disk? Or Basic Disk with
Partitions.

When you physically connected the drive to the computer did you set the
jumper to the Slave position and ensure that it is recognized by the BIOS?
When you moved it to the usb enclosure did you remember to set the jumper as
Master?

Exactly what happens when you try? If you get an error message, please
quote it verbatim.

Is this perhaps the issue? Take ownership:
