reception error

I have a machine running with Windows 2000 SP4. It's an
intel machine ~450 mhz with 192 MBs of RAM.
Intermittently, the fax machine will reject faxes
with "reception error." but no other info. Lately,
though, it seems to reject every single one. If you want
to try to send one, the # is 619.628.8269. I tried
switching modems, but nothing seemed to work. Iinitally
the fax worked fine, but then it had the occasional error
(once a day.) now it's all of them. It currently has a
3Com modem (which seemed to work the "best")

I heard there certain (but rather extensive) registry
changes i could make to track the exact error. Does
anyone have anything to suggest?

I have the same problem, I have tried a number of
different modems but still get the same error, from what I
have read it seems to be a compatibility problem with some
fax machines and windows fax. I am the IT Manager at a
large firm and we receive about 25 faxes a day which of
about 20 get through.

Anyone had any luck getting on top of this problem?

I am just an accountant not an IT person. We used to have
this problem fairly frequently. We switched to a Multitech
modem and it helped some then I changed the modem's maximum
port speed in Windows 2000 SBS server to 19200.

The problem has mostly gone away but we still occasionally
see it. Probably receive 5 or 6 faxes a day. A couple fail
a month.

I am sure as soon as I press the send button the next 10
will all fail (crossing fingers).
