Receiving "problem preventing windows from checking license"

A

Andrew

I installed a new Seagate and used their free tool,
DiskWizard, to ghost over my Windows boot drive to the new
one (as it was bought to replace it).

I've gone through the motions, partioning and formatting
the new drive. DiskWizard exited after copying over files.

Upon reboot, I can't boot off the Seagate and my old drive
now boots with the error message, A problem is preventing
Windows from accurately checking the license for this
computer. Error Code: 0x80090006.

Wonderful proggy they wrote [

Please see the following Knowledge Base article:

In short, the license activation process you went through
when you first used Windows XP uses hardware IDs to
signify that it was installed on your computer. Well, the
hardware changed, namely the hard drive's built in
hardware serial number. Now Windows XP thinks an illegal
copy has been made of it and gives you that error. The
Knowledge Base article listed above basically states to
reinstall Windows XP over the existing copy, then run the
activation process again.

You use Symantec Ghost to "ghost" a drive! You use Drive Image to "image" a
drive!

You used DiskWizard which copies a drive, not ghosts a drive, and it doesn't
do half the job of the other two!

So, I guess you are saying what a wonderful proggy Seagate has written,
right?
