Recall Emails

I am hoping someone can explain exactly how the recall function works and I
dont just mean how to do a recall.

I have always understood the recall email needs to be opened for it to
recall the message but now I am not so sure. If I am logged into outlook and
someone tries to recall a message I have not looked at will the recall
instantly happen or will it need me to open the recall email?

I have occassionally needed to advise people how it works but after the last
incident I have been left confused and want to make sure I understand it
correctly so I know I am giving out the correct advice.

In fact, recall won't happen unless the message is UNREAD. Once you open
it, it can't be recalled.

There is a post by either Lanwench, Milly Staples, Sue Mosher, or Diane
Poremsky (I forget which) that goes into recall in a fairly detailed
fashion. Google Groups should be able to locate it for you.
