In my search so far I have only found the sapphire 9600 which is
fanless from what I understand. But it seems to have mixed reviews and
some even receieving defective ones I dunno Im not an expert on these
things which is why Im asking. Are there other fanless video cards out
there?

The reason I am looking to upgrade my ATI AIW 7200 radeon cant play
Crazy Taxi 3. Im not much of a gamer cept for games like that.

I've swapped the fan on my 9800 SE for an Arctic-Cooling unit (£7 or
so). It has two settings. There's the virtually silent one that is
just the job for you and the unnecessarily fast overclocking option
for me.

And IIRC some manufactures provide 9800SE models without any fans...just a
plain heatsink. These ones are obviously not easily overclockable, but I
guess your not looking for that anyway.

Fanless graphics cards are for big girl's blouses. What you want is
something that has a Dyson vacuum cleaner attached.

The girly man setting on my fan is meant to be just about silent and
has the same cooling capability as the stock fan it replaced.

I have a 9800 Pro that I fitted a Zalman ZM80A-HP to - it's about as quiet
as it gets.

Sapphire do a range of passively cooled ATI cards.

Ben,

I was thinking of getting one of those for my 9800 pro - did you have to get
the silent fan as well or are you using just the heatsink??

Cheers.

Just the heatsink. It gets very toasty though - I can;t hold my finger on
the heatsink for more than about 2 seconds.

No artefacts at 450/360MHz (Samsung 2.86ns)
