Hi,

What you need is a program that can handle the file type that was saved. You
might try openoffice.org if you don't have or want to spend a chunk of
change on a copy of MSOffice for this machine. Be aware too that most retail
versions of office allow for one install to a desktop and one install to a
laptop, so if you purchased yours separately, you may be able to use it on
the laptop.

Your statement that the retail version 'office" may allow installation on a
desktop & laptop, has me curious as I am not aware of this action, what is
the basis of the statement & how do I confirm whether my retail version
allows dual installation.

I am only aware of the Office Student and Teacher edition allowing multiple
installations (up to 3 PCs). Since Office 2000, I have only been allowed to
install the software on one machine.

Below is a extract from the EULA for MS Office (retail version)>
The question is, does a laptop which is used only by the primary user
qualify as a 'portable device"?
I suppose it is in the definition of 'portable device"!!

"a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software
on the licensed device.
b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device
for use by the single primary user of the licensed device."

Better to download and install the free OpenOffice.org - that should
suffice.

and it started the download.
