Readin .mdi format in Vista/Office 2007

I am trying to read an .mdi file in my Vista/Office 2007 system and the
format is not recognized. When I search for help, it's like the format never
existed. Am I missing a setting?

Thanks for the help. I have downloaded the reader and will use it as I need.
I am now using Office 2007 and am mystified as to why it doesn't read .mdi
files natively. They were only introduced in 2003.
