Reader Rabbit won't run for "user"

Jeff Bert

I have installed Reader Rabbit for my son. His user is
setup as a regular "User" but when I try to run Reader
Rabbit for him as his user no data can be saved to disk.

This is WinXP Pro.

I have set it to run in compatibility mode. I have set
the folder to be read/write for all users.

Is there a way to let the game run and write to its own
folders?

thanks,

Jeff

Yes, sure is, Jeff. Follow the bouncing tail, er, instructions:

1 - Go into Control Panel/Folder Options and click on the View tab.
2 - At the very bottom of the View tab (you need to scroll), remove the
check mark from "Use simple file sharing (Recommended), and OK your way out.
3 - Open Windows Explorer, navigate to where Reader Rabbit is installed.
(You may need to right-click the icon created for the game, select
Properties and look in the Target for the Path.)
4 - Find the top folder of where the game is installed, perhaps something
like C:\All Programs\TLC or Reader Rabbit.
5 - Right-click the folder (the one containing the game files), and select
Sharing and Security...
6 - Click on the Security tab, and you'll see all the user names listed in
the top pane. Highlight your Son's user name.
7 - In the lower pane (Permissions for "username") put check marks in all
the categories. Then click Apply, followed by the OK button.

All these permissions you've now given his account apply ONLY to this one
game. The rest of the system will continue to deny him access.
