Read Only PST File

I am in the process of implementing an email archive solution for my company.
I will be importing pst files located on a network share to a central
repository. During the migration I would like to be able to make the current
pst files read only. Is it possible to mark a pst read only so an end user
can open it in Outlook view the contents and not add any new content?

Thanks in advance.

No. Outlook requires a) full read/write and b) exclusive access to the PST
file.

PST files are not a good choice for archiving, unless you are a small
office/home user - and MS does not support accessing them across a LAN/WAN
connection. They must be stored & accessed from the local hard drive.

No. PST files must have read/write access even just to open them.
