Read only folders

When i view the properties for a document folder, the attributes show that it
is 'read only'. I do not want this. Unchecking the read only box works,
however when I open the folder properties again, the read only box is always
checked.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Some files are meant to be read only, and unless you need to remove them,
keep them as read only. You may also go to control panel-folder options and
go thru list to see what options are available there. (the only reason to
uncheck read only, IMO, is to remove them, in which case, you shouldn't be
able to go back to check if it was reverted

Normal for XP, by design.
Directories (folders) are READ ONLY, but the files that they contain can
be changed.
