tried to log in on someone elses computer and received a read only message,
what have I done wrong, I am the administrator, I have set up two users on
being a standard user and the other me an administrator. I can log on and
off as both users on my computer but not on anyone elses....I just dont get

The logging on and off on your computer only is one issue. That issue
indicates that you have NOT secured your database. You setup users and
passwords in Tools/Security, but that does NOT secure a database. You need
to follow ALL the steps in the security FAQ. Securing a database is not a
simple task and skipping just one step will cause the file to not be
secured. (see links below my signature)

The read-only issue tells me that the people using the file do not have FULL
permissions to the folder in which you placed your database. If a user
can't add files to the folder, then they would not be able to open a lock
file (ldb) when the database is opened. If a user can't modify files, then
they would be unable to modify an existing ldb file if they are the second
user to access the file. If they can't delete files, then they would be
unable to delete the ldb file if they are the last ones out of the file.

Both of these issues are addressed often in the newsgroups. Please search
for your answers in the previous posts before you submit new threads to the
newsgroup.

Thanks and good luck,
