Read-Only DB

I recently converted a split Access 2000 database to Access 97 to use on
another system. Now, whenever I open it, it will only open as a read-only
database. Any idea why that is? Could it be the folder settings on the other
system?

Neil,

Just guessing here, but apart from the folder settings (user needs full
rights to the folder), check the database file's Read-only attribute; it
might be it's been set to true - definitely so if you transferred it to
the other system on a CD!

This seems to be the problem.

How do I change it so that it is not read-only?

Neil,

Locate the file in Windows Explored or My Computer, right-click on it,
select Properties and uncheck the Read-only check box.

Is there a shortkey way to do this? My workplace has deactivated right-click
on files in Windows Explorer. Any way of opening the properties window with
a shortkey?

Oh, good grief!

If you select the file in Explorer and then press Alt+Enter, that ought
to bring up the property sheet. If not, then if you can get to a
Command Prompt window, you could use the Attrib command to change the
attributes of the file.

Cheers Dirk.

Alt + Ent doesn't work and have no access to Command Prompt. I have emailed
IT Dept and asked them to allow me to change the properties of the file,
given I'm the DBA.

Thanks again
