I have one user who said his entire inbox disappeared. After I spent some
time looking for a virus, he said that new mail coming in was also
disappearing if he clicked into another folder (like sent items) and back
into the inbox.
After looking some more for a virus, I decided to set up a rule to copy all
incoming mail to a folder called inbox2. I assumed that the messages would
continue to disappear from the inbox due to this mysterious virus, but at
least he'd have the emails. I had one unopened test message in his inbox and
ran the rule. Lo and behold, all of his previous messages (700 of them)
appeared in Inbox2. So they're in the inbox, but they're invisible. Any
clues what causes this, and how to fix it?
