Reactivating XP

On start up, I get the message "Since windows was first
activatedon this computer, the hardware has changed
significantly. Due to the changes, Windows must be
reactivated within three days. Do you want to reactivate
now? YES<NO"
Is this a legitimate Microsoft message, or am I being
scammed?

That's what WPA should do. Have you changed hardware in your PC recently?
Anyway you still need to click activate.

Did you change any new hardware?
E.g. Harddisk, CPU, motherboard?
Normally, it' safe to re-activate when this msg appears.

I posted earlier about the getting the same startup message and the only
thing that i have done recently is install norton utilities which itself
uses activation and wonder if there could be some screwup there, i have
since activated winxp with no problems though.
I haven't added or changed any hardware for months.

PA gets flakey when adding RAM. The printer & scanner shouldn't even be
counted in the hardware changes for PA. It's a legit message, and if
it's been less than 120 days since you last activated you copy of XP,
then you'll have to phone MS to be activated

MS's FUD-ULA protection is flakey, as it is dependant on a database file
that is easily corrupted.

Buy software that is purposely designed to disable itself, eventually it
will!
