Re-setting up XP and getting updates

My primary PC is severely infected with Malware deep in the OS and I need to
install a new hard drive. How do I get all of the XP updates I need ahead of
time from a non-infected machine so that I can burn them to disk and install
SP2 and all of the current updates on the new hard drive without having to
connect the PC with the new hard drive to the internet until everything is
updated from the CD's. If I run windows update, it will only give me the
updates I need (if any) for my secondary PC, but I need all of the available
updates dating back to 2005 (that is how old my version of XP is).

You don't really collect updates from one machine (updated or not) and use
those on another machine. You can download the updates individually and
save them to external media - perhaps even use them to integrate/slipstream
into your Windows XP CD, burn a new bootable CD and have a more complete
installation from the start.

The easiest way I have found for most to get the updates:

Youre a little confused. If you install a new hd (actually malware or viruses,
will have no effect on the pc once its formatted and a new copy of xp
installed),
somthing you must do if a new hd was installed."Secondary pc",if you mean 2nd
hd (new one),youre confused here because the existing hd needs to be
physically
unplugged while the new one gets formatted & the OS installed.Hence, whether
you install a new hd or not, boot to xp cd,at menu select install xp,format
or delete
partition & format,then let xp install auto..Also,at download center,some
option
updates should get saved, but windows update is the best way to reinstall
them.
