re-installing windows XP fresh

I've loaded windows XP home on another PC previously, and
for hardware issues had to go back to windows 98, and
then (accidentally) upgraded to windows ME. I know, it's
a real POS but i thought id give it a shot. So I'm gonna
format and put windows XP home back in, but it tells me
my product Registration is already registered (since you
have to do that part online). What do i do to get past
this screen? How can I get my product ID to work. Does MS
expect me to buy a new copy of XP everytime I want to do
a format and re-install?

Phone up your local centre and if you are kosher they can give you a new
code to enter
