re-Installation

I started to have major problems wth my pc, it was not starting saying there
was UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, i got it working but it just happened again, so
I decided to re-insall xp, here is the problem

My pc came with xp already installed and it didn't have a cd, but there is a
windows xp certificate of authenticity on the side of the tower. So to
re-install i had to borrow my fathers disc and now it says that I have to
activate windows, but if I cant do this as the disc had already been
activated on the family pc. What can I do?

As long as you used the Windows COA off your computer for the key then you
will be able to activate it with no problem. The CD you use has nothing to
do with it. By the way if you are getting Unmountable_Boot_Volume Errors one
after another like you said then it is more than likely that your Hard Drive
is failing. I would suggest you get a new hard drive and backup your
information. (if you haven't done so already with the reinstall.) Good Luck.
