Re-Install Windows Explorer???

I am new to the group, but I'm a A+ certified tech, & I am having a devil of
a time with Windows Explorer. It happens mostly when I right click on a
file. I loose my start menu & the desktop is hung permanently. A couple of
times it has recovered automatically & running task manager to run
"explorer" has worked a couple of times, but I usually end up re-booting. I
can not establish a pattern, or repeatable conditions. is there a way to see
what has been installed to augment explorer's functionality? Can you
re-install explorer? Is there a known workaround? Is there an all out
replacement that can be installed? I really like Shellless Explorer, but it
is just a "skin" for explorer itself. I hate to have to re-install
everything, but I do a lot of file manipulating & this error really slows me
down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

It might be helpful to know when this first started happening. If not too
long ago, you could always considering rolling back with System Restore to a
good checkpoint before it happened.
Can you re-install explorer?

It's an integral component of Windows, so not likely!

There are several Explorer "replacements" you can find with a good Google
search (like XYplorer, or xplorer2, etc), but that's not really fixing the
problem, either.

It sounds like a custom context-menu entry has become corrupted, causing
Explorer to hang when you right-click.

Have a look at ShellMenuView
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shell_menu_view.html which will allow you to
disable
the right-click extensions until you find the one that's broken.
