I'm going to revive this question because I didn't see an answer and I need
to know this too...

Subject: DNS Scavenging Log file?

Hello,
I tried to search for this answer, but the search
function has been turned off by Microsoft on this board.

I had 43 DNS nodes scavenged yesterday. My scavenging
schedule is the default 7 days.

Is there a log of what the 43 DNS nodes were?

Thanks!
Dale

Hi guys,

The records that were removed are from workstations that had dynamically
updated DNS when they were assigned an address but were not released on
shutdown. Windows clients do not release the address on shutdown so after a
while they add up which is why the need scavanged. That's what those
records are. Hope this helps.

Thanks Peter,

What I really need to know if there is a log that specifically lists the
nodes removed, such as the following:

This post looks familiar. Did you multi-post in another newsgroup too?

As for what gets scavenged, EventID 2501 should tell you. Here's more info:

Yes but event 2501&2 just gives a summary, I need the list with the specific
nodes removed, if it is available.
